The small planting of Cabernet Franc at Frank Ferreira’s vineyard in the Applegate delivers outstanding quality year after year. What we see from this plot is great varietal character, the result, no doubt, of the coarse, red soils, and stubborn commitment to dry farming.

The world seems to be divided between those who love Cabernet Franc (moi aussi) and those who…do not. This wine may prove to bridge this somewhat extensive gap, potentially saving untold numbers of relationships. Frank’s Franc maintains classic Cab Franc characters of pepper, cinnamon and spice, but is deliciously round with balanced tannins. The 2007 vintage is somewhat more delicate than the 2006, the result of a milder vintage.
